Privacy Policy

Homedex is made by the makers of Homedex ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information we handle when you use the Homedex app and the website tryhomedex.app, and what we do with it. The short version: your files never leave your computer.

The Homedex app

Homedex indexes, previews and searches files on your computer. File names, contents, text recognised in images, thumbnails and the search index are all created and stored on your device. We never upload, collect or see them.

The app makes only these network requests:

• Update check. A few times a day the app downloads a small file from GitHub (github.com) to see whether a newer version exists, and downloads the update if there is one. GitHub receives your IP address and the app's version, like any download.
• License activation. When you activate, validate or deactivate a license, the app sends your license key and a device name to our payment provider, Dodo Payments, to confirm the license is valid.

The app contains no analytics, tracking or advertising code.

The website

• Email sign-ups. If you ask us to email you the download link, we store your email address, the page you signed up from, your browser's user agent and when we last emailed you. We use it to send the link and occasional product news, which you can opt out of at any time.
• Purchases. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record. They collect your payment details; we never see your card or bank details. We receive your name, email address, country, order details and license key so we can support you.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider records technical data such as IP addresses for security and abuse prevention. We use IP addresses briefly to limit repeated sign-up attempts.
• No cookies for tracking. The site does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

Who processes data for us

• Cloudflare: website hosting, DNS and email forwarding
• Supabase: database for email sign-ups
• Resend: sending emails
• Dodo Payments: payments, taxes, invoices and license keys
• GitHub: hosting app downloads and updates

Some of these providers store data outside India. We share only what each one needs to provide its service, and we never sell your data.

How long we keep it

We keep sign-up emails until you ask us to delete them. Purchase records are kept for as long as tax and accounting laws require.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data, or withdraw consent to emails, by writing to hello@tryhomedex.app. We reply within 30 days. Homedex is not directed at children under 18.

Grievance officer

For any privacy concern or complaint, contact our grievance officer at hello@tryhomedex.app. We acknowledge complaints within 48 hours and resolve them within 30 days.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced on this website.
