Feature · Clean Up
Free up gigabytes without deleting the wrong thing
Updated
Short answer
Homedex's Clean Up cards find the space you forgot about: installers you already ran, downloads you never opened again, huge screen recordings and old screenshots. You see every file before anything moves, and everything goes to the Recycle Bin.
What Clean Up looks for
- Old installers (.exe, .msi) for apps you've already installed
- Downloads you haven't opened in months
- Giant screen recordings and videos
- Stale screenshots piling up on the Desktop
How to clean up safely
- 1Open Clean Up
Press Ctrl+Shift+K, or click a Clean Up card on the Home screen. Each card shows how much space it would free.
- 2Review the files
Every file is listed with a preview, size and date. Untick anything you want to keep.
- 3Trash selected
Selected files go to the Recycle Bin. Empty it when you're sure.
Questions
- How is this different from Windows Disk Cleanup?
- Disk Cleanup and Storage Sense clear system and temporary files. Homedex Clean Up looks at your own files (downloads, installers, recordings, screenshots), which are usually where most of the space goes.
- Can I undo a clean up?
- Yes. Files go to the Recycle Bin, so you can restore them until you empty it.
